China is enlisting its army of 12 million food delivery drivers to boost their love, loyalty, and obedience towards the Chinese Communist Party while calling on the low-paid workers to act as the government's eyes and ears on the ground.
The plan, revealed in government documents, comes amid reports that other gig economy workers are being recruited to join neighborhood surveillance and "stability maintenance" operations under Communist Party chief Xi Jinping's drive to return China to its totalitarian roots.
