Henry Kissinger, who died on Nov. 29 after decades as a foreign policy adviser and consultant, was highly regarded in Beijing for his key role in the early 1970s U.S. diplomatic opening with China. He was "a world-renowned strategist and a good old friend of the Chinese people,” said Chinese leader Xi Jinping, who met with the famous diplomat in Beijing in mid-2023, weeks after Kissinger's 100th birthday.
