Chinese literary folk figures Sun Wukong, a symbol of strength and protection, and monk Tang Sanzang, who represents peace and tolerance, team up to conquer hate speech – a scourge on social media.
Following a 2021 UN General Assembly resolution that set June 18 as the International Day for Countering Hate Speech, the UN launched a plan of action plan that calls on governments, international organizations, civil society groups and individuals to come up with strategies to identify and counter hate speech.
Hate speech is defined as attacks or use of pejorative or discriminatory language toward a person or a group based on their religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, color, gender or other identity factor. #NoToHate
