North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un was caught wiping away tears in state media footage of him discussing the country's declining birth rate and urging mothers to produce more children. Kim called on thousands of women at a National Conference of Mothers to mothers to raise their children to "carry forward our revolution," and to crack down on rising "non-socialist practices." North Korea, one of the poorest countries in the world, has a fertility rate of 1.8 births per woman, considered low for a low-income country.
