Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken are meeting in Washington for talks expected to pave the way for their presidents, Joe Biden and Xi Jinping, to meet in San Francisco in November. The first visit by a Chinese foreign minister to the U.S. since before the COVID-19 pandemic follows months of mounting tensions between the two powers over Taiwan, the South China Sea, microchips, human rights and geopolitics.
