Illegal loggers carving up rainforest

Cambodia's Prey Lang forest is under increasing threat from illegal logging. Even though the forest lost more than 18,000 acres of tree cover in 2019, according to the University of Maryland, the government banned environmental protectors from the forest's associated wildlife sanctuary in early 2020.

Since that move, widespread deforestation has continued unabated, a report from the university and Global Forest Watch says. Below, two satellite images from Planet Labs reveal the extent of the destruction.
