탈북민 7명이 현재도 중국 구금시설에 갇혀 북송될 위기에 처해진 가운데 영국의 민간인권단체인 세계기독인연대, CSW 는 중국에 있는 탈북민 7명의 제3국의 안전한 행을 보장 해야 한다는 성명서를 발표 하였습니다.
CSW’s East Asia Team Leader Benedict Rogers said: “Forcibly repatriating this family to North Korea would be to send them to a dire fate, with almost certain torture and imprisonment and possibly execution. Furthermore, it would be a breach of China’s obligations under international law and a violation of the international principle of non-refoulement. We urge the Chinese authorities to live up to their responsibilities and obligations under international law, and allow this family to transit to the third country. We also call on the international community to offer China every assistance to resolve this case justly, and ensure that this family is able to move to a place of safety. This case requires urgent action.”
영국의, CSW 의 동아시아 담당 벤 로저스는 성명문에서 가족들이 북한으로 북송이 된다는 것은 고문과 투옥과 사형 집행으로 그들을 무서운 운명에 빠뜨리는 것이며 또한 국제법에 따른 중국의 의무 위반 및 국제 사회의 비 환원 원칙을 위반하는 것 이리고 이야기 합니다. 그는, 우리는 중국 당국이 국제법상의 책임과 의무를 이행하고 이 가족이 제 3 국으로 이동하도록 허용 할 것을 촉구하며 또한 국제 사회에서 이 문제를 공정하게 해결하고 중국이 안전한 장소로 이동할 수 있도록 모든 지원을 제공 할 것을 촉구합니다. 이 경우에는 긴급 조치가 필요합니다, 라고 성명문에서 이야기 합니다

또한 Lyn Brown 의원이 최근 영국 외교부가 평가한 북한 종교 탄압에 대한질문을 올렸는데 외교부에서 내려온 답변 입니다.

The UK continues to have grave concerns over the repression of Christians in North Korea. The Bishop of Truro’s interim report as part of his independent review into Christian persecution cites a number of reports on the different forms of persecution faced by North Koreans who seek to practice Christianity outside of state-controlled organizations. There is nothing to indicate the situation is getting better. We raised the lack of freedom of religious belief with the North Korean authorities during their Universal Periodic Review on 9 May. We will continue working with our international partners in the Human Rights Council and elsewhere to hold the North Korean government to account. We continue to urge North Korea to engage positively with the international community on this issue, including through our Embassy in Pyongyang.
영국은 계속해서 북한에있는 기독교인들의 억압에 대해 심각한 우려를 나타내고 있습니다. 트로이 감독의 중간 보고서는 기독교인들을 박해하는 독립적인 검토의 일환으로 국가 통제기구 밖에서 기독교를 실천하려는 북한인들이 직면한 다양한 형태의 박해에 관한 여러 보고서를 인용했는데 상황은 나아지지 않고 있습니다. 우리는 5 월 9 일에 있었던 북한 인권 상황에 대한 보편적 정례 검토에서 북한 당국에 종교적 박해 문제를 제기하면서 북한 인권위원회, 국제 파트너들과 계속 협조하여 북한 당국의 책임을 추궁할 것입니다. 우리는 평양 주재 대사관을 통해, 북한이 이 문제에 관해 국제 사회와 긍정적 인 관계를 유지할 것을 계속 촉구합니다.
하지만 외교부의 이와같은 답변에 많은 영국인들은 회의적인 반응을 보냅니다. 실질적인 해결 행동 방안 없이 아직도 북한정부과 대화를 이어가겠다는 이야기 뿐이고 현장에서 종교 박해를 당하는 사람들의 인권개선 문제에 대한 해결책이 없다고 강조합니다.
